Welcome to the official website of James Heffernan and JHMotorsport.

Thank you to everyone supporting James - a great end to 2006 was winning the last race of the season supporting the British Touring cars at Brands Hatch shown live on Motors TV!

James Heffernan is currently competing in the 2007 season of the BARC Formula Renault Championship - a competitive single seater motor racing series.

James is determined to progress within motorsport to the highest level possible, having co-created JH Motorsport racing in order to avoid the higher costs involved with paying bigger teams. He is seriously looking forward to competing throughout the 2007 season and beyond.

James only started in racing part-way through 2004 and with JH Motorsport running their own car it meant that there was a lot to learn! He finished 3rd in the 2006 championship, despite not being able to attend 3 of the races, narrowly missing out on the 2nd place championship position! It is this promising performance that is compelling James to work on a race budget which will allow him to return value to sponsors associated with JH Motorsport. James is also a fully licensed ARDS Race Instructor and can provide tuition and guidance starting with track days and progressing all the way through to racing!

James wants the opportunity to demonstrate how motorsport can be used to promote companies wishing to market themselves and their products. For more information click: Sponsors & Partners

Car Specification

The cars are the very ones which supported the British Touring Car Championship's from 1995 - 2000, launching the careers of current McLaren F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen and Williams F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia.
Chassis
The class is multi-chassis meaning they are made by different European chassis manufacturers such as the famous Italian manufacturers Tatuus and Ermolli, the French Mygale and Martini companies plus Van Diemen and Swift in Britain. All consist of a tubular spaceframe.
JHMotorsport use the well proven Tatuus RC97 chassis.
Engine
The cars are all built around an identical base of mechanical components as originally supplied by Renault Sport and all use the 1998cc Renault F3R FRS engine. The engines have been modified to give around 175BHP via a remapped and sealed ECU and special Renault Sport camshaft/pistons etc.
Gearbox
The power is delivered through a manually operated 5 speed transaxle dog ring box which has a full racing pedigree.
Bodywork
Carbon Composite/GRP moulded bodywork.
Suspension
F3 style suspension makes the cars completely adjustable in set up, allowing many settings for wet or dry conditions. Pushrod controlled twin dampers at the rear, monoshock at the front all with adjustable bump and rebound.
Brakes
Alcon calipers, disks all-round with cockpit adjustible front-rear bias control
Tyres
Michelin controlled slick racing tyres
Front 16/53 x 13
Rear 23/57 x 13
Wheels
Mad'in 13" 3 piece alloy rims with variable offsets for set up.
Weight
The minimum race weight of the car minus driver is 465KG
Performance
Performance is stunning with a 0 to 100MPH time of around 5 seconds and less than that to get back again to 0MPH! Add to this the aero effect of the adjustable wings and the Michelin controlled slick racing tyres and the cornering speeds are incredible.

"looking back on the race I think I could have gone even faster! There was no-one around me to threaten my win in the last few laps so I just backed off a touch and kept the car happy... it was good I avoided trouble too as there were a few incidents and I noticed a few cars spinning off the track!" James would like to thank Xado for their attendance and support during the race.

Marathon Weekend completed!

James ran the London Marathon the very day after racing at Silverstone! Although racing Formula Renault wasn't quite the ideal preparation day for such a long run, James is proud to be one of those who have ran the marathon.
